Hard cheese, chaps.

After years in the catalog, it seems that Playmobil acacia trees are no more. Nor are their huge palm trees. (See update below).

Playmobil's dealer listing is at:
http://www.playmobil.com/usservice/dealer.html

Perhaps you can find a dealer with some old stock. The product number is:

7056 - Two Acacia Trees
The price was $5.99 in the '97 catalog (the latest I have).

It would not be too hard to scratchbuild a similar tree. It would require a broad, loose-fitting base, a single trunk, spreading branches and large, light, flat leaf clusters (try green construction paper) perhaps with some model-railroad ground-foam or other lightweight texturing.

----------

Two Cheers for Playmobil - As of July, 2000, Luis Filipe Gomes reports that the acacias and the large palm trees are once again available, but only as part of a pricy Safari Pack containing 2 acacias, 3 palm trees, some bushes, a cactus and a number of Playmobil jungle animals. US$45 at ToysRUs. Ouch. Still, it gives one hope for the future.
